robotics in taiwan
organizer
a few summers ago, my friends ju, callum and i flew to taiwan to teach robotics!
we all met at our robotics team at our school, frc team 1310. we were apart of the team together, but we weren't apart of any outreach organization so we had to plan and fund everything ourselves. to make this dream happen, we set up a gofundme and raised over $2000 to purchase robotics kits for the elementary students in zhongli, taiwan!
then it was time to get planning!
we created a month-long robotics-focused curriculum, each week spanning different topics:
- robotics introduction
- design robot systems
- coding basics
- final project!
here are some photo moments :)

alongside these classes, we also organized a district-wide stem event in taiwan, teaming up with a local taiwanese frc team 7586. we had almost 100 students turn out, and we focused on initiating activities aimed towards collaboration at every turn.
one of my favorite memories? hosting an egg drop contest from a 5-story building. the students had to build some contraptions that would protect their egg on impact—and it was funny and amazing seeing how imaginative they got with their egg protectors. from parachute-like designs to cushiony foam structures, they poured all their problem-solving skills into it (and yes, a few eggs still cracked).

overall, that summer in taiwan was life changing. i still think about how the students got so excited when they got a motor running, or when they saw their code come to life in the robots they built. it reminded me why i care so much about opportunities like this—giving people the tools and the confidence to explore, fail, learn, and succeed.
